When we first introduced Jhambiliki on Rekordshop in November 2025, his story took us from Raleigh, North Carolina, through Zambia and into the UK’s music scene. We explored how those experiences shaped his blend of R&B and Afrobeats, and his decision to pursue music seriously.

Returning to the Rekordshop Podcast, he has a new chapter to share. His first paid show, a Breakthrough Artist of the Year award, two more singles, and a forthcoming EP give us plenty to catch up on. Alongside those milestones, our latest conversation explores the confidence he is building, how he is promoting his music, and why looking after his mental health matters.

Turning Passion into Paid Opportunities

In our first conversation, Jhambiliki spoke about taking music from a hobby to something he wanted to pursue professionally. This time, he could reflect on an experience that made that ambition feel more tangible: getting paid to perform.

He described the satisfaction of having his work valued and being paid for something he loves doing. For an artist investing time and energy into their craft, that first paid show is a meaningful milestone.

His live experience has continued to grow. During the podcast, he reflected on opening for Great Adamz at his February headline show, describing the encouragement that came from being invited and trusted to help open the night.

He also spoke about performing at the first Afro Fest at Northampton’s Royal & Derngate. Each opportunity adds another experience to draw on as he develops his confidence in front of an audience.

Breakthrough Recognition in Northampton

Winning Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the Rhythm & Poesy awards marks another important step in Jhambiliki’s journey.

When we last spoke, much of the conversation focused on his background, influences and ambitions. Returning with an award gives that story a new dimension: recognition within the creative community around him.

His performance at the Musically Unorthodox Summit in April 2026 also placed him among the emerging artists contributing to Northampton’s music scene. These experiences give us a chance to explore how recognition and opportunities are shaping his belief in himself and his work.

New Music, New Confidence and an EP Ahead

Our original feature introduced “Piano” and looked ahead to “Toxic Love”. That next chapter has since taken shape, with “Toxic Love” and “Might Fall in Love” adding to his releases.

The conversation now goes beyond making the music. Jhambiliki also reflected on how he is marketing it and learning to put his work in front of people.

For an independent artist, releasing a track involves more than the studio session. Sharing it, talking about it, and encouraging people to listen are part of the work, too. His growing confidence is an important part of that process.

With a new EP coming soon, there is another chapter ahead. Following the singles and live performances, the project will give listeners a chance to hear where he takes his music next.

Looking After the Person Behind the Music

One of the most valuable parts of our latest conversation was hearing Jhambiliki discuss how exercise has helped his mental health.

It makes space for a side of artist development that deserves attention alongside the releases and performances. Pursuing music takes time, energy, and a willingness to keep putting yourself forward. His experience of exercise adds a personal perspective on looking after yourself while doing that.

For young creatives listening, it is a useful reminder that wellbeing belongs in conversations about ambition and progress.
